Hardesty LibraryHardesty Regional Library is hosting a series of programs that might be beneficial for your business or start-up. In Business at Your Library – Weathering Tough Economic Times, is designed to help businesses gain valuable insight and find helpful resources to maintain a good customer base, compete in the market, tighten spending, and explore creative ways to run lean and green. They also include programs on how to develop a business plan and how to legally establish a business. All programs are free and open to the public.

In Business Kickoff
Saturday, April 4, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Network and visit with representatives from local businesses and organizations. Sean Griffin, owner of Vizalution LLC and leader of the Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, is the keynote speaker.

SCORE Business Plan Seminar
Thursday, April 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
SCORE Counselors to America’s Small Business discuss what is involved in developing a good business plan to help start your business. These seminars occur the second Thursday of every month at the Hardesty Regional Library.

Finding Customers/Staying Alive
Thursday, April 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
A panel of area business owners and experts will discuss marketing, finding customers and staying in business. Panelists are: Gerald Buckley, Grocio Inc., winner of the 2008 Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and a nominee for the Tulsey Awards, Jeremy Burton, president-elect of Public Relations Society of America, Tulsa Chapter, and director of public relations for Oral Roberts University, and Martha Gregory, Research Wizard, Tulsa City-County Library. She will provide an overview of library databases providing market data to help find customers and keep up with the competition.

Keeping Customers/Staying Competitive
Thursday, April 23, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
A panel of area business owners and experts will discuss keeping customers, networking, being creative and innovative and staying competitive. Panelists are: Orlando Dumalag, owner of homesightings.com and realtor with McGraw Realtors, Mary Beth Babcock, owner of Dwelling Spaces, winner of the 2008 Tulsey Award, emerging entrepreneur category, and winner of the 2009 Pinnacle Award, corporate/business category and Larry Mocha, president of APSCO Inc. and nominee for the 2008 Tulsey Awards, legend category

Running Lean/Working Green
Thursday, April 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Panelists will discuss using green practices and saving money by running lean. Panelists are: Marilyn Ihloff, owner of Ihloff Spa, Bill Mickey, retired utilities and energy consultant, John Miggins, owner of Harvest Solar Energy, and one of Tulsa’s pioneers in various kinds of alternative energy, including solar and wind and Libby Auld, owner of Eloté, an enviro-friendly restaurant located Downtown.

Running Lean/Working Green
Thursday, May 14, noon-1 p.m., Central Library, Lecture Room, Fourth Street and Denver Avenue
Having a great idea for a business is just the beginning; it’s also important to know how to legally establish your business. Learn about the types of business organizations, including partnerships, corporations, LLCs and more. This program is offered as part of the Tulsa County Bar Association’s “Layman’s Legal” series.
