Healthiest Fast Food in Tulsa
Three Tulsa franchises made the top 10 healthiest fast-food restaurants in Health magazine.
Panera Bread
The magazine touted Panera’s choices of whole-grain breads for sandwiches, and the option of apples instead of chips, along with options for controlling portion size, such as half-size soups, salads and sandwiches.
They also liked the chain’s options for children: squeezable organic yogurt, all-natural peanut butter and jelly or grilled organic cheese on white whole-grain bread. There are nutrient-rich choices such as black bean or garden vegetable soup.
Jason’s Deli
The chain’s devotion to organic food products won big points with Health, including items such as blue-corn tortilla chips, whole-wheat wraps and field greens.
Salads feature nutritious and tempting ingredients like grapes, chicken breast, feta cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, raisins and organic apples. They also offer several selections of healthy portion-controlled sizes.
Chipotle
Chipotle gives customers control over their burrito, taco or salad and is committed to organics, hormone- and antibiotic-free meats and local produce — a big step for a chain.
They offer healthier add-ins such as fajita veggies and green tomatillo salsa, and skipping the tortilla and opting for a burrito bowl saves lots of extra calories.
