Remembering Eastland Mall

This one’s just for kicks. Remember Eastland Mall at the intersection of 21st Street and nowhere? Its undergone a long and dramatic transformation to become a mixed use office complex. What was once a dead and dingy building is now a lively hubbub of business after several years and $55 million dollars.

The place is now occupied by the University of Phoenix (located in the old Mervyn’s), the OK Dept of Public Safety’s drivers license testing facility, Workforce OK, Community Action Project with their Early Childhood Education Center, Alorica, and Coca-Cola Enterprises.

There’s even a cafe/coffee shop with free WiFi in the former Helzberg Diamonds space. IBC Bank is building out a space, as is Weststar Mortgage and there’s positive word on talks with a national food operation to lease there as well. At just over 30% capacity, the developers are expecting to have close to 1000 employees working at Eastgate Metroplex by the end of this year.
