E-911 System Coming Soon
Beginning October 22nd, Tulsa’s 911 call center will begin using a new system to trace the location of wireless calls. This system will allow dispatchers to track a wireless caller’s location within a half block, based on what cell phone tower the call is transmitting from.
That’s much better than the current technology, which only provides dispatchers with your phone number.
Several communities in Tulsa, Rogers and Creek Counties are already using the E-911 system. Nine cities split the $9 million price tag of the technology with Tulsa.
