Owasso a Boomtown

Business Week recently named the Tulsa suburb of Owasso as the state’s number one boomtown. The magazine determined one city from each state to be recognized as having the most growth since 2000.

Some of the determining factors included “growth in households from 2000 to 2008 and from 2007 to 2008, the emergence of new neighborhoods, the average length of residence, and the change in household income.”

Business Week reports:

Household growth (2000-08): 47%
Household income growth (2000-08): 18%
Home value: $160,500

Owasso, a suburb just north of Tulsa, has been growing rapidly this decade, in part because of its strong schools and healthy economy. The area’s households grew 47% from 2000 to 2008, to 13,997. Average income jumped 18% during that period, to $69,726 in 2008.

It is truly amazing the amount of growth that has taken place there in the last ten years.
