Art and Music Classes in Tulsa

If you are an artist, or even just enjoy art or music as a hobby, Tulsa has a great selection of classes that will improve your ability. This isn’t a complete list, but just a small sampling of some great classes offered in the Tulsa area.

Art

WATERCOLOR STUDIO
Sabine is a nationally published painter and illustrator. She exhibits at M.A. Doran Gallery in Tulsa. She has taught TTC evening classes for 18 years, as well as private classes. All levels of experience are welcome and will receive individual instruction. Thursdays 3:00 to 5:00. Call Sabine Bernard at 744-9342. Fee is $60.00 a month at Ziegler Art Studio.

POTTERY CLASSES
Adult and kid’s classes and studio space. Third Street Clayworks, 1001 E. 3rd St. or call 585-CLAY.

OSAGE FINER WEAVING
Learn this off-loom, intricate weaving technique that is used by the Osage, Creek, Seminole and Choctaw tribes. 7-week workshop. $15. Wednesdays, 1-3pm. Youth Services of Tulsa, 311 S. Madison. Contact Scott Heberling at 382-4427 or sheberling@yst.org for more info.

INTRO TO MOSAICS
Six week sessions. Thursday, 6-9pm. $75/session. Glenpool/Jenks Recreation Center, 13800 S. Peoria, Bixby. Call 746-3780 for details.

THE STAINED GLASS GUILD
The group focuses on working with glass, mosaics, fusing, slumping, flame working, panel work & more. The second Saturday of each month. 10am. Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett. Call 665-3049 or 671-6701.

GLASSBLOWING CLASS
Adults and kids 14 and over can make their own flower at the Tulsa Glassblowing Studio, 19 E. Brady. Create a flower for $25 and pick it up the next day. Call 582-4527 for more info.

FUSED GLASS CLASSES
Learn how to make fused glass pendants and earrings. Fusing glass and kiln times are included. This three-session class starts August 3. 6-8:30pm. $66 for three sessions. The Glass Station, LLC 540 S. Elm Pl. Call 258-3651.

EXPERIMENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS
Using traditional and not so traditional methods, you will learn to manipulate the photography process to create totally new, unique works. You will use pinhole cameras, quad lenses, Polaroids, tinting, filters, collage, darkroom techniques and many more ways to experiment with you photography. The class is $40. Fridays, 5-7pm. AFRICAN DRUMMING

GUITAR LESSONS
Learn the basics of guitar playing. All you need to bring is your guitar. Monday 6–8pm and Thursday 6–8:30pm. The instructor is Lonnie Rice and he may be reached at 291-8639. At the Glenpool/Jenks Recreation Center, 13800 S. Peoria. Call 746-3780.
