United Way Day of Caring :: September 12

The 17th Annual Day of Caring begins next Friday at the new BOK Center! Be among the first visitors inside the new arena as they kick off the 2008 Tulsa Area United Way Campaign. Admission to the BOK Center is free and Alaina Whitaker from American Idol will be performing. Breakfast pastries will be provided by QuikTrip following the program.

Thousands of participants in last year’s Day of Caring completed 400+ projects – that’s over 24,000 hours of community service to our 63 agencies.  Volunteer projects range from going with The Bridges Foundation to the Zoo, to painting and fixer-up jobs, gardening, craft projects, inventory,  and cleaning.

This year, there will also be activities with senior citizens, building a wheelchair ramp, a carnival, Big for a Day with Big Brothers Big Sisters, painting a mural for Goodwill, and makeovers/photo shoots with girls from the Margaret Hudson Program.  This is just a short list of the many activities to choose from.

Program begins – 7:30 AM
Doors open – 6:30 AM
